At ep.education, we believe that everyone should be able to live with dignity and security. That's why we are proud to pay our employees a living wage.
A living wage is a high enough wage to cover the basic necessities of life, such as food, housing, and healthcare.
It is not the same as the minimum wage, the legal minimum employers can pay their workers. Unfortunately, the minimum wage is often not enough to cover these basic necessities, so many workers struggle to make ends meet.
The current New Zealand Living Wage is $23.65 an hour. Our internal staff and the relief teachers on our payroll receive at least this hourly wage.
By paying a living wage, we can provide our employees with the financial stability they need to support themselves and their families. This means they can afford to live in safe and healthy homes, eat nutritious meals, and access quality healthcare. It also means they have more disposable income to spend on other necessities, such as education and transportation.
Paying a living wage also has benefits for our company. When employees are financially secure, they can focus on their work and be more productive. They are also more likely to be satisfied with their jobs and stay with our company for longer periods of time, which can reduce turnover and the costs associated with hiring and training new employees.
In addition, paying a living wage is the right thing to do. It helps to reduce poverty and inequality and supports the local economy by putting more money in the hands of workers who will spend it on goods and services in our communities.
We are committed to paying all our employees a living wage at EP.
We believe this is not only good for our staff but also for our business and society as a whole.
