The Power of Collecting Student Wellbeing Data

EdTech, News from ep.education, Teach in NZ, Wellbeing
skodel data

"If you can't measure it, you can't improve it!"

Student wellbeing is a critical focus for school communities. Unfortunately, current approaches to managing wellbeing can be complex and time-consuming. As you review and plan your wellbeing programmes, how do you measure the impact of your interventions?

When you're tracking wellbeing, you need to know where your students are currently, where they're going, how it changes, and what steps are required to support their mental, emotional, and social wellbeing. You might be running annual or twice-yearly wellbeing check-ins alongside your other wellbeing programmes, but a lot can change between those check-ins. How do you consistently keep your finger on the pulse?

If measuring wellbeing is crucial but currently very challenging to undertake, you wouldn't be alone in wondering how you can take any meaningful action to support your students.

What if you could...

  • Understand the wellbeing of individual students, of cohorts, and across your whole school
  • Look into the drivers behind how your students are feeling and see trends contributing to their wellbeing
  • Decide on the support needed and which areas to focus your wellbeing programmes on
  • Access historical data to monitor wellbeing trends over time and easily report to your board

We have the solution...

Introducing Skodel:

the 30-second wellbeing check-in tool

How Skodel works

Unlike large-scale surveys, Skodel uses 30-second check-ins to make it easy for students to communicate regularly about how they're feeling and why.

Not only does Skodel give every student a voice that can be easily and safely heard, but it also gives you data-driven insights into your school community. Skodel gives you real-time data of your students' wellbeing, as well as the ability to monitor wellbeing over time.

With each check-in, Skodel builds a picture of each student's mental, emotional, and social wellbeing. It also replaces dense reporting. With a single, interactive page, you'll be able to quickly and easily understand complex wellbeing matters.

Skodel is designed to complement your existing wellbeing initiatives and can work alongside them to highlight which areas of your wellbeing programmes are working and which you might need to focus on further.

Insights Delivered Directly To Your Students

Students have their own dashboard so they can track and monitor their wellbeing over time, reflect on how they have been feeling, understand what is driving these feelings, and acknowledge when they have overcome challenges. In addition to this, students can access evidence-informed resources developed in conjunction with Australia's leading child and education clinical psychologist, Andrew Fuller.

Connect with our Skodel Team

Don't just take our word for it. Hear what others are saying about Skodel:

Skodel has identified a number of important student issues that we wouldn't have otherwise known about. This information has allowed us to resolve issues before they escalate. Skodel was quick and easy to set up and our staff have had no issues rolling it out.

- Craig Sharp, Principal, Wainuiomata Intermediate School

We've run our first check in and have picked up a couple of things already in terms of challenges our students are dealing with. We've found Skodel really easy to use and the students have responded really well to it as well.

- Te Ara Poutama, Manager, Alternative Education Centre

I think Skodel is great. Once you see what it can do then it's an easy decision to put it into our school. Skodel gives a very quick and very good overall picture of our student's wellbeing. We can get ahead of any issues before they disrupt learning. The kids love it and my board was really impressed with the data. In lockdown, it was extremely useful too.”

- Cathy Chalmers, Principal, Greenmeadows Intermediate School

Are you ready to harness the power of wellbeing data?

What happens when you decide to use Skodel? Our team will get you set up, provide documentation to share with your school community and, alongside the creators of Skodel, run a short training session for your staff. Because Skodel is so easy to use, that's all you'll need to get going.

We're truly passionate about Skodel – we use it ourselves to monitor our staff wellbeing at ep.education! We'd love to show you the positive benefits it can have for your school community.
