About the workshop:
Scientists ask questions and make observations to answer these questions, an important learning experience for all young students.
This online workshop provides teachers with an opportunity to develop their own capabilities to help students to explore and investigate as scientists. There is a particular focus on the investigating strand of the Nature of Science and it is a hands on, active session.
Some basic materials will be required, a list of which will be emailed to you prior to the workshop.
About our facilitator, Nicholas Bithell
Nicholas brings a depth of experience in science education having over 20 years of teaching experience specialising in science and STEM education. He is a Ministry of Education accredited PLD facilitator and is passionate about working with educators to create engaging experiences for learners and to build teachers and schools capacity in the areas of Science and STEM.
Nicholas has worked as a teacher, Head of Junior Science, and Head of Department in schools, in New Zealand and the UK, and has engineered change in areas of curriculum and pedagogy.
He is currently working with primary and intermediate schools to weave science and STEM into their local curriculum and has been supporting schools in recent times with their provision of distance learning.
